2012 - CURRENT
The Hanking Central Tower was designed to establish itself as the cultural epicenter of the burgeoning business district in Shenzhen, China. Three programmatic stresses converge on the site: a desire for public retail and leisure space, private office floors capable of attracting local businesses in Shenzhen, and the home for the new headquarters for the Hanking Group; a prominent development company in the city.
Standing at 300 meters, it is the tallest detached core
tower in the world. The elevator shafts, toilet facilities, and infrastructure
for the building are housed in a separate monolithic core, leaving the commercial
offices unobstructed. Upon arriving at their floor, tenants pass through a
30-meter glass bridge to reach the office tower.
